I already wrote on the things Pokémon needs to do for the next incarnations of the series, but that’s just the bare minimum. If it were up to me, I would do a complete overhaul on the franchise. Satoshi Tajiri said that Pokémon Adventures ”… is the comic that most resembles the world I was trying to convey.” Based on ideas seen in that, ideas seen in the anime, and some thoughts I’ve had on my own, I’ve made a list of features that would be great to see in the games, but probably never will no matter how great they would be. Pokémon is an interesting little paradox. One of the core tenets is evolving your little monsters to make them more powerful and give them access to new and more powerful moves, yet the series refuses to do any kind of evolution itself. While the game series has added plenty of enhancements such as the new Pokémon types, double, triple, and rotation battles, and Pokémon contests, for the most part it has remained unchanged: you start your journey out by getting a fire, water, or grass Pokémon from the Professor, you go through the eight gyms collecting badges in a bid to challenge the Pokémon League and you stop a nefarious Team from their plans (typically world domination or gaining power) while completing the Pokédex. This is the Pokémon formula and it works. As they say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Pokémon 3DS is presumably the next release to come after the Black and White sequels. When those games come out, hopefully the franchise will have made some much needed changes. (via Pokémon 3DS Requirements | Pop Culture Social Club)
